"Las Meninas", "Margarita Julietta" or Velazques' "Pope Portrait of Innocence X" provided a theme for Iz Maglow's modern art paintings.
Portrait Situation is one part of an Homage to Diego Velazques, a small collection of fine art paintings by German Art Artist Iz Maglow, who gave his attention to the art work of this great Spanish painter repeatedly since the early nineties. Especially Velazques' "Las Meninas" and his portrait of "Innocence X" inspired the German art artist.

The painter has to finish his portrait of the royal couple. You may have a presentiment of them in the mirror in the back. Nurse and children are joking around and the royal dog barks. Suddenly a servant opens the chambers door. With the entering twilight the whole atmosphere changes. What will happen next?

Diego Velazques' painting "LAS MENINAS" has interested other painters during all times. Especially the order and the structure of this composition woke the fascination for Iz Maglow. In its own special way it's quite revolutionary.

Velazques' waiting-room is very crowded today.
The pope is waiting for his portrait. He had a date this early morning. Even the royal family with children, nurse and servant already arrived. The royal dog seems to like the smell of the colors and felt asleep.

Margarita Julietta presents her new dress, but only one question accompanies this scene:
Why did the artist not arrive yet? - And who is just entering Velazques' studio?
