We know Balinese Dances as: "Trance Dance" to enforce the warriors, "Temple Dance" to delight the gods and "Royal Dance" to please the princes in their palaces. Today there are many traditional performances and modern choreographies of Balinese Dance. In the "Legong" dance there are two dancers, dressed like twins, who tell the story of a prince and his kidnapped princess. The dance wins its tension by the change of synchrony and asynchrony. A third dancer (the "Condong") appears, playing a messenger, who already knows the couple's happy end. At night, accompanied by the light of torches, numerous dancers wove their
half-naked bodies to the "Kecak", a Balinese Trance Dance.
In such an impressive, wild atmosphere episodes from Ramayana are narrated. |
