"Tempo vs. Speed": Artistic Objects by Iz Maglow

"TEMPO : SPEED" is the second part of ironic art objects around the tissue "TEMPO" from Germany, created by German Art Artist Iz Maglow in the early eighties.

These art objects have been inspired by the meaning of the product's name. Thoughts about a distance-time acceleration and speed have been transmitted in these art objects under different aspects.

Starting points for some of these art objects had been events, that took place during the process of creation, like e.g. trips by the artist of Trier, voyages by Pope John Paul II or political news from Nürnberg, the same city, where TEMPO-Company is located.

PORTA NIGRA, in Roman times the main gate to the city of Trier, is probably in colour, constancy and monumentally the absolute "ANTI TEMPO" and one of the most thinkable contrasts to a fragile "TEMPO".

WHEN IZ MAGLOW WAS WORKING AT HIS TEMPO SERIES, A QUITE "FAST" MASS-ARREST OF 141 PEOPLE HAPPENED IN NÜRNBERG, THE SAME CITY, WHERE TEMPO -COMPANY IS LOCATED, WHAT INSPIRED THE ARTIST TO CREATE THIS LITTLE ART OBJECT.
